Stephen Singer, a community leader.
If you live in or around Great Manchester, the name Stephen Singer will ring a bell. Most likely you have come to know Stephen one of two ways: based on the family company, Merchants Automotive Group (previously Merchants Motors), or through Stephen’s generosity and commitment to the community.
As President of the family business, Stephen works hard to uphold the family tradition, established by his father when the doors to Merchants Motors first opened in 1962, to provide its customers with a quality product and superior service. However, equally as important to the company is its position within the community.
Stephen chairs the Singer Family Community Service Team and sits on the board, alongside his siblings, of the Singer Family Foundation. He spends the majority of his workweek and personal time volunteering in the community and chairing many local events. When it comes to urging others to ‘step up to the plate’ Stephen has a way of convincing just about anyone. Whether it’s helping to attain a raffle item, such as an autographed guitar, or establishing the largest blood drive in the state, Stephen takes his community work very seriously.
The health and welfare of the Greater Manchester community benefits greatly from the many great organizations Stephen aligns himself with. The list of organizations touched by Stephen on an annual, if not more regular, basis includes—but is certainly not limited to—the Heritage United Way, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Easter Seals, Meals on Wheels, the Hooksett Food Pantry, Families in Transition, UpReach Therapeutic Riding Center, HEAR in NH, New Horizons Soup Kitchen, the Fight to Educate to benefit a variety of children’s charitable organizations, the Manchester Mounted Police Patrol, Child Health Services, the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Glendi Festival…the list goes on.
An avid collector of Muhammad Ali memorabilia, Stephen personally enjoys the sport of boxing and shares a common bond with Mr. Ali himself—a commitment to enhancing the lives of others to make this world a better place.
